Doug Wall

Douglas I. Wall is a Partner at Williams Chartered, P.A. based out of Orlando, Florida. He is Board Certified by the Florida Bar in Construction Law. Previously, Mr. Wall managed and supervised the handling of construction defect matters for the entire State of Florida for a large, national firm. His entire career has focused in the areas of general construction work, construction defect litigation and professional liability. Mr. Wall has represented architects, engineers, developers, general contractors, construction managers, subcontractors, and all other related trades involved in the design and completion of constructions projects throughout the State of Florida. He has successfully represented these clients in state/federal courts as well as in arbitration. In addition to his construction practice, Mr. Wall has also handled litigation across a broad spectrum of matters including subrogation claims, insurance coverage disputes, premises liability claims, automobile negligence claims, intellectual property disputes, slip and fall matters, nursing home cases, sinkhole claims, and first party insurance lawsuits.

 

Mr. Wall has presented seminars on a wide range of topics including the identification of early claims resolution factors in construction defect matters, the effective preparation/filing of proposals for settlement, how to best utilize experts in general liability/construction defect matters, real word “in the field” risk avoidance techniques for owners/contractors during construction, and the economic loss rule application in construction defect matters.

 

Mr. Wall has practiced law since May of 2002 at various Florida law offices in Orlando and South Florida. He has a very broad and diverse background which assists him in his legal career. He has worked for for contractors in several trade areas, both during high school as well as during college. Prior to attending law school, he worked for five years as a complex civil litigation paralegal for both plaintiff and defense firms in South Florida. While in law school, he clerked for two years with a general liability law firm in Lake City, Florida.

 

Mr. Wall is licensed to practice law in Florida and is a member of The Florida Bar. He is also admitted in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. 

 

Mr. Wall has obtained Board Certification by the Florida Bar in Construction Law. There are only 443 Board Certified Construction lawyers, out of the nearly 109,830 lawyers who are licensed to practice law in the State of Florida. This Certification represents 0.4% of all Florida attorneys.

  • REPRESENTATION OF NATIONAL GENERAL CONTRACTORS

    Currently serves as counsel to a multi-generational, national general contractor on various construction and construction defect matters throughout Florida.

  • SUMMARY JUDGMENT AGAINST NATIONAL HOME BUILDER

    Successfully argued and obtained a Summary Judgment based on statute of repose against National Home Builder resulting in complete dismissal of claims against his Client Roofer as well as award of attorney’s fees and costs. 

  • ARBITRATION VICTORY FOR HOMEOWNER IN ORANGE COUNTY, FLORIDA

    Successfully represented Homeowner in a multi-week arbitration related to construction defects and delays in the construction of a $2.5 million home in Windermere, Florida.

  • SUCCESSFUL DEFENSE OF GENERAL CONTRACTOR IN ARBITRATION

    Successfully defended a General Contractor in a multi-week arbitration related to construction defects and delays in the construction of  fertility clinic in Tampa, Florida. We successfully argued to a result that was almost 90% less than Plaintiff’s $3 million pre-suit demand. 

  • SUCCESSFUL DEFENSE OF THRESHOLD INSPECTOR

    Successfully defended a threshold inspector in a multi-week arbitration related to construction defects in the construction of a 4-story, wood framed, apartment building in Tampa, Florida.
